oh mannn! i haven't updated this in a reaaaaally long time. i'm not even sure what i've informed you guys about, and what not.

well, let's just start off with my lavi. he's cute as ever. now he has taken a liking to circling around my feet and following me around the house wherever i go. that's very adorable and all, but i'm afraid i might just squish him one day in accident. i'll be terribly sad the day it happens. hehe.

hamsters.. hmm. i'm done to just 3. i sold the rest of them to the kind pet shop uncle. it's sad that the family is smaller, but at least cleaning is less of a hassle now!

and as for gerbils, they have all passed on. bubu couldn't take the loneliness of being without ciaowii, and has left us as well. may their souls rest in peace.

pooey. i haven't updated since a long time.

well, just telling you guys my babies are all fine. though, i'm a little worried about lavi. yesterday he fell from quite a height and landed head first on this metal thing. i hope he's really all right. he's acting normal now, but i've heard of cases whereby rabbits that has been acting normal die off suddenly.

you cannot imagine my relieve when i saw my dearest lavi still euthusastically greeting me in the morning. the day before i was already thinking of what am i going to do when he pass on.. where was i suppose to bury him.. or where could i go to cremate him.. i'm such a pessimist by nature.

on a neutral note, i'm planning to sell away 7 of my hammies away after cny. may they find good homes. :)

oh yes. and why do i have 7? it's because my maxi gave birth again. gave birth to 6 kids. hahaha.

tomorrow, baby one and baby two will be leaving us to stay with chewy and her hammies. do hope they will love it there, and that they would not misbehave, like just now.

silly babies. they run at the speed of light. just as swift as maxi when we first got her. i had to run all over the house to look for baby 1 when he/she flew out of my palm. i found him/her climbing on the curtains a few minutes later. crazy babies. must have gotten all their agility from maxi.

well, not just their agility though. they're all gotten maxi's big doe eyes. the are such cuties now. hahaha.

oh yeah. i forgot to add! maxi gave birth to five or six little hams today. and i found it out in yet another inconvenient way! i was trying to connect this two habitrail cages together, and i was touching the cage when i noticed this wade of tissue paper beside my hands was moving. maxi's head popped out and soon after, i saw about five red gummy like things which i can remember oh-so-well as what.

i panicked again, and hoped that maxi would be a kind mother once again and not eat any of her kids. and she didn't.

oh man. yesterday bubu escaped from his cage while i was out. hahaha.

i left the cage top open because i was drying its top. and bubu jumped out of his tank.

thank goodness he came out from his hiding place behind the fridge as soon as we stepped into the house. my mummy literally swept him off his feet with the broom stick and carried him back into the tank.

sooob!!

lavi's angry with me!! now he refuses to come out of the cage. even when i open the food box, he doesn't rush towards me and jump into the box anymore!! sob sob sob!

well, it all started when i brought him to the vet. you see, his nose has this strange thing on it since the day i saw him at the pet shop. as days went by, it started to flake and i decided that something had to be done before it got worse. i suspected it was fur mites, but then again, it might be the dreaded scabies.

so anyway, i brought him to this vet at Ang Mo Kio. it's a really nice vet, by the way. oh, i digress. so then, i had this vet check him up. she's a cool vet. she has this nose piercing and she's so hyper. eeks. getting off track.

she had this little knife looking thingy and she told me she had to scrap some of the skin off lavi's nose and paw to see what was he suffering from and it was possibly scabies. she assured me that wouldn't hurt lavi at all and told me to hold him tight.

lavi struggled loads and tried to squirm out of my hands. i really feel sorry for him, but it's the thing to do. better he get well soon.

the veternarian then went to the back of the office to examine what she scrapped off lavi under the microscope. thank goodness it wasn't scabies, but it was instead what i suspected it was, which was fur mites.

since lavi was at the hands of a professional, and it was an opportunity, i requested the vet cut lavi's nails as well, since it was getting rather long. i hope lavi wasn't hurt, because he struggled worse than before, his hind legs frailing and kicking. i had to raise my voice at him a couple of times to stop him from figdeting. i think i must have scared/angered lavi then.

after that, lavi had his jab for the fur mites and we were done for the day. however, next week lavi will be visiting the vet again as he still has to go for about three more jabs before his mites will be fully gone. that's be about one whole month of vet-visiting.

well, i do hope lavi forgives me soon. it's for his own good, but i know for a baby like him, it must have been a really frightful experience.

oh, a one sentence update on the roborovski...

hello guys.

today i went out and got myself a cute carrier tote for my lavi. it won't last him till he becomes a full fledged adult, but it's just too pretty to be ignored at that moment i was shopping. ah well. at most i'll resell it or something if he gets too big for it. hehehe.

ah, i got a rabbit leash too. it's kinda difficult to leash lavi up because he's still really small and it's difficult to adjust it. but he looks oh so lovable when he hops along, with the little bell chiming in harmony with each step he takes.

lavi is as playful as ever. do hope he has gotten used to his new home. evil mummy keep saying lavi will die soon from stress. choy choy! touch wood! i will be the one who will die from stress. hahaha.

as for the robo hammies, i can hear the babies squeaking softy, but i can't really find them. well hidden under the massive clumps of tissue maxi piled on them. ah well. i can't wait to see them soon! i'm sure they'll be cuter than the pet shop man's baby hams. muwahahaha.

heho honey bunnys!

gosh. i'm gonna be pokkai really soon. my expenditure for pets has really grown tremendously! even till i am sacrificing my own wants and needs. ah well. love precedes all.

anyhow, today i bought some more hamster food, sanitation wipes for lavi, and a bunny brush for him as well.

i'm still somewhat desperately pinning for a cute and handy sized animal carrier bag, some cages and whatever that's required to make it livable, minimal baby rabbit food, animal nail clippers, rabbit leash and more mealworms.

and that's just the wishlist i have compiled for my pet needs/wants. i haven't mentioned what i want for myself yet! hopefully all that pet stuff can be below 100 dollars. which is quite an impossible feat, actually. hahaha.

zomg!!

i have good news and bad news.

good news is that maxi has given birth.

bad news is that maxi has given birth.

why is it bad news? because i only realised it when i was about to clean their cage!! after i grabbed xiaojun and maxi out of the cage, i suddenly noticed this "carrot" moving about somewhere under the wheel, almost hidden by the clumps of toilet paper. i was kinda shocked, and i took a closer look, and lo and behold! baby hammie!!

panic panic!! oh no! i had practically messed up the cage! now the poor darling would be eaten by its mummy!

i had no choice, but i put maxi and xiaojun back. i do hope the baby will be fine. i'm not too sure if there's any more. only saw one. perhaps she had just given birth to it? ack. pray pray.

on a random note, tomi's name has been changed to lavi. because thats what my mummy stubbornly keeps calling him. (lavi is her "cute" version of saying rabbit.) and besides, the lavi from d gray man is really adorable, just like my lavi. so, settled!

it's been half a month since ciaowii has departed from this world. alot of things have happen since then. some good, some bad.

maxi and xiaojun has been very close to each other, very intimate. that's a good thing i suppose. if you want baby hams, that is. there is going to be more expenses, thats for sure. better be prepared for it. some research will be good.

on the topic of birth, i heard cheryl's pair has given birth to 5 little babies. congratulations to the new parents, and to cheryl!

anyway, as maxi and xiaojun become more attached to each other, they have become rather nasty to luna. loud burst of squeaks can be heard frequently during the night. i've went to check up on them. i had to separate luna from the rest.

my daddy, however, insisted that were back to being "good friends" and that they were just playing. then, a few days later, i see luna covered in blood. how friendly is that?

needed to have luna permanently seperated from the rest, so i had to get proper housing for luna. he was living in this little carrier, without a wheel, food bowl, sand bath or water bottle. life must have been really miserable for him.

so much thanks to godmama chewy for her carrier cage! the one that nissa used to house in before moving into her giganormous palace. now luna looks so much happier.

sigh, i wish i had seen ciaowii before they took him away.

i shouldn't have refused to see him.

telling myself he can't be dead.. how silly of me. i saw how horrible ciaowii looked at his last few hours, right? then why was it so unexpected, though it was already predicted?

i wonder if ciaowii was disappointed that i hadn't seen him off?

the truth is, i couldn't bare to see him. i was awake. i just knew, from the moment i opened my moisten eyes. he was gone. but i lay there on my bed. i didn't dare to go out.

then i heard voices.

"he's so stiff!"

"aww! he's dead! marina! your rat has died!"

"man, we must throw him out before he stinks the place!"

why can't they speak in a more respectful manner? can they stop reminding me what i have lost? why are they doing this to me?

but who am i to be angry. i shouldn't make excuses. i am sorry, ciaowii. for not seeing you off.

this heartache won't stop.

i can see it in his actions. he is missing ciaowii.

it's all my fault. maybe if i had cleaned the cage earlier, he would have been all right. maybe if i had brought him to the vet yesterday, it wouldn't have happened.

how could i have let it happen? i've failed as an owner, as a parent; to have let a beloved slip pass my fingers.

ciaowii's barely moving. he's just slumped across the jar; his eyes barely open. i have no idea what's wrong with him. he's grown much fatter. but he doesn't eat from my hand anymore. he's not energetic like he was last time. even after i changed the bedding, he's not messing it up like how he used to do. just lying there.

i tried to recall if there could be any cause for this, but i've no ideas. i should have been more resposible. i should have spent more time with him, and observe his behaviour more. i noticed it from yesterday, but why didn't it strike me as weird? a little slower than usual, he stopped running on the wheel... just a few days back he wasn't like this...

my mummy and i keep joking about him. like how he looks like a computer mouse and a scrub brush now. but deep down we are both really worried for him.

oh please, let ciaowii be all right. let it be just a passing phase. what would happen to bubu if ciaowii was gone?

yoyo!

i'm back once again to report to you people! this time, our family has increased by 3! adorable little roborovskis!

2 males, 1 female. luna and xiaojun are the lovely boys, and maxi the pretty girl! i'll post up their pictures when i have the proper time! at the mean time, you guys can read http://meganissa.blogspot.com/ for more details! pretty sure chewy would be writing something about them soon! :)

anyway, a little background information on the new kids...

luna is the first one that caught my eye. he was adorable, energetic, curious and gentle. really a sweetheart. what a pity he's missing a limb. decided to adopt him from the pet shop. thanks uncle, for letting me be with this wonderful critter! such a cutie. always squeezing in between maxi and xiaojun, like the littlest baby! :) he's luna because he is pretty, just like the moon!

maxi is the speedy one. she zooms at the speed of light. much much faster than the gerbils, in fact. she's difficult to catch once she's out of your grasp. she's gonna be a handful. but she's the one who looks after the other 2. like a mother hen/big sister. lovely doe eyes she's got too. :) she's maxi, 'cos she's always at maximum speed! totally energetic!

and finally, xiaojun. this little fella is chewy's. i'm just keeping him together with the rest. he's the one with the cute beady eyes. always snuggling up to maxi. i think he's gonna be a ladies's.. hamster? hahaha. he doesn't really run from you when you touch him too. okay, he still scurries away, but i'm comparing to the other 2 hamsters. haha. and his name.. erm. ask chewy about it. hahaha.

well, and updates in the gerbils! ciaowii and bubu are going strong, for all who bother to care! eating like pigs, running like horses. and i have spend crazy sums on them once again! i'll put up the expenses later!

well, for all you readers who are curious about ciaowii and bubu's development, they are still alive and kicking. or more like, alive and biting.

bubu is now like a crazy monster, gnawing unto anything he sinks his teeth into. socks, cardboard, paper, fingers... (he still hasn't bit me.. YET.)

ciaowii is such a (somewhat, compared to bubu) gentle sweet boy. he isn't as insistent as bubu in his conquest to shred everything to bits. and he loves to take sunflowers seeds from my hand. totally cute!

seems like my whole family is getting pretty attached to those 2 and their adorable antics. :)

hahaha!

today, godmama chewy came to visit ciaowii and bubu while yesterday, dawnie came to see them! aren't they so popular? you guys should be thankful, ciaowii bubu! hehe.

well, they seem to be starting to nibble people. bubu bit dawnie on her hand yesterday, and ciaowii chomped on my brother's finger today. well maybe it's partly because he was squeezing him slighly, but still, i don't want my babies violent! (haha. they still haven't biten me yet!!)

my mama asked me to be brave and carry the gerbils, but i really couldnt muster up the courage, so instead, i grabbed a pair of pink socks from my drawer and slid my hands into them. i then used it to try to grab bubu and ciaowii, but they kept running away! i finally managed to lift bubu out of the tank when he suddenly leapt out of my "sock-ed" hand and ran away!! EEEKS!! chewy was screaming, i was screeching, my brother was shrieking.

thank goodness my brave mama came to the rescue and picked up bubu (with her bare hands) and dropped him back into the tank gently. HOORAY!

hahaha. after that, we had a little fun continuing with our "pink sock treatment" on the gerbil brothers and "bullying" them a little. hahaha. serves them right. when you are cute, people bully you more. hahaha.

and you boys showed off your power chewing skills to godmama chewy right? (HAHA PUN!) she was so shocked at the rate you two ripped my bra box to shreds. i'm pretty sure the box would be gone within 2 days or less. hahaha.

woohoo! progress progress!

now ciaowii and bubu are taking the sunflower seeds from my hand. yays!

and i've managed to muster up the courage to stroke their furs abit. they do turn their head to try to either 1) bite, 2) sniff or 3) whatever else my fingers. well, i'm not exactly sure what they were trying to do because my fingers never stayed long enough to figure it out.

i'm still a little tab bit apprehensive about them. just today, i put in this empty biscuit box for them to chew on. when i came home, i couldn't find it in their tank at all. i asked my mummy:

"mama! did you throw away the box i put with the gerbil?"

mummy's reply:

"nope. they chewed it till it's gone. i put some papers for them to chew on too, and they're all gone now"

WOW WEE!

imagine if those were my fingers.

EEKS!

but still, even though you kinda scare mama, she loves you alot alot, ciaowii bubu! <3

currently camping in school library. dear chewy has overslept, once again. hahaha. oh well. i can blog while waiting.

okay.. diverting back to why this blog was made.. well, what can i say? i swear ciaowii and bubu run on energizer batteries. i've never seen them rest. okay, maybe not energizer batteries. even batteries have to take a rest ocassionally.

so yesterday, i brought them home. ciaowii and bubu taking turns to run on the wheel noisily. that's good. however, their mama had to eventually take out the wheel at 10pm because they were causing a serious noise pollution.

1am, i went out to the kitchen to return my cup, and lo and behold! bubu's head was sticking out of the orville instant popcorn box i gave them to play with. still not asleep?

well, they don't want to sleep, but i do.

today, around 9.45am, after i was done with my shower, i went to take a little peek at them. and yes. they were awake. ciaowii busying ripping into shreds the toilet roll i gave them, and bubu standing on the popcorn box on his hind legs, staring at me.

well, i think gerbils aren't active. they are overly hyper active. hahaha. but that's a good thing. they are such curious little critters. whenever i put something new into their tank for them, they would immediately scurry towards it and dart about, crawling all over it. it's almost as though they have such a conversation as below:

"yo bro! look at what mama brought us!"

"woah! what's that, man?"

"who cares! it looks frigging awesome!"

"awesome!"

and they will proceed the ravage the entire thing.

awww. they make it seem as though the things i gave them are the coolest things on earth. and they are, to them. hehehe.

they're pretty neat too. they do their business inside the hamster toilet, or behind it. but well, since they burrow about everywhere, the droppings gets mixed up with the bedding and it kinda loses the effect of pooping in one area. oh well. so that's why they have their mama. to clean up their mess. hahaha.

awwww..

i'm already missing them; those big fat rats, my cute little things. hehehe.

wow.

the first thought that came to my mind when i saw my future babies were,

"GOSH THEY LOOK LIKE GIANTS!"

they looked a little larger than i expected, and alot scarier too. i didn't dare to touch them at all. of course, i didn't dare to touch chewy's nissa as well, but that's a different story.

well anyway, i comtemplated whether to get them or not. i mean, they aren't as cute as hamsters, but they are special and unique; adorable in their own way!

so yeah. i got them.

i got a small tank, as well as other little goodies.

bubu is the slightly white, slightly brown one with a red tint in his eyes. although he isn't as good looking as ciaowii, he's more sociable, active, and loving. and he doesn't run away when i try to take photos of him. hahaha.

ciaowii is the a sandy brown boy with black eyes. he's the pretty one between the two brothers. he's a little shy and gets all jittery easily though. he's also not as energetic as his counterpart. but i'm sure once he warms up to his new home, he'll be better! :)

phew. i'm just done with scrubbing my garden tiles.

i'm being paid for my hard work. yay goody!

...too bad it'll all just go into my gerbils fund.

man, i'm dog tired. the entire process took over 2 days. and truthfully, the tiles still looks as disgusting as ever. mossy and all. ewww. total grossness.

well anyway, i'm hoping that i'll get to buy a tank later when i go out. then i'll be able to get the gerbils and the bedding tomorrow. and the other little things.

oh oh. chewy has informed me that the gerbils are already in stock. however, i have to snap them up quickly because the shop keeper is not sure when will the next stock be coming in.

dang, i'm not quite prepared yet. i'll be collecting the cage from zhi wai on monday. the bedding i should be buying it the day i get the gerbils.

the rest of the items i either have gotten, or it's not as essential.

ahhhh!!! i just hope the little gerbils will still be there when i'm ready!

oh gosh.

i'm starting to have doubts on getting gerbils. i've got no whatsoever experience in caring of gerbils. what if i screw up? and they die? heartbreak!

hamsters are easier to care for, according to many others. but gerbils are special. i mean, how many of us guys have heard of gerbils before this blog came about?

ahhh.. if i get gerbils, i need to get a 10 gallon or more aquarium. i'll want them to live in an environment that's prefect for them. but it'll cost me a bomb.

hmmm. i've decided. i'll get either:

1) gerbils

2) pudding

3) roborovski

yeah... so how?

right, another day has passed us by.

i, together with chewy, went to thomson plaza to look for hamster/gerbil goodies. and obviously, i had to part with quite a notable sum of money.

business done today:

-bought dried mealworms cos hammies simply love them! ($4.10)
-bought minimal main food fruit mix ($10.65)

total expense today: $14.75

total expenditure as of today: $24.75

one tiny step to gerbils, one giant leap to bankruptcy.

oh anyway, chewy brought her nissa to school today. she (the hamster) is really such a darling. gentle and well-tempered. it'll be wonderful if all hammies could learn to be like nissa.
